Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher (Chris) Moyle was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. Upon completion of high school in 1991, with an acceptance to the Engineering Programme at the Royal Military College (RMC), he enrolled into the Canadian Forces as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Officer. Graduating in 1995 with a degree in Civil Engineering, he was posted to Petawawa. As a Junior Officer, LCol Moyle’s career began in 2 Service Battalion where he held a number of staff positions in both administration and operations, as well as command of the Forward Repair Group within Maintenance Company. Two major domestic operations, the Manitoba Floods and the Ottawa Valley Ice Storms, as well as a first deployment to the Former Republic of Yugoslavia would mark the culmination of his employment with 2 Service Battalion, at least for a while. Upon return in summer of 1999, LCol Moyle was posted to the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment as the Maintenance Officer and shortly thereafter deployed with that unit’s Battle Group to Kosovo. In 2001, he would assume the position of G4 Equipment within 2 CMBG HQ for a year before moving to DGLEPM to support operations at the national level as DLEPS 4-6 (Equipment Support to International Operations). With a fresh promotion to the rank of Major in 2004, he would attend the Land Forces Technical Staff Course in Kingston and obtain a Masters of Defence Engineering and Management from RMC. The summer of 2005 would then see his return to 2 Service Battalion to command Administration Company for the next two years as well as assuming the function of the unit Deputy Commanding Officer for the second year of his tenure. As progression would have it, LCol Moyle returned to 2 CMBG HQ in 2007 to serve as the G4 until 2009 when he departed to attend the Joint Command and Staff Programme and was promoted to his current rank. Putting this last training and developmental opportunity into practice, LCol Moyle was posted in 2010 to the Canadian Operational Support Command (CANOSCOM) as the J3 Current Operations before returning once again to Petawawa.
In addition to his degrees from RMC, LCol Moyle is also a graduate of the Land Force Command and Staff College as well as the Canadian Forces College. He is married to Janet Cloutier-Moyle of Sudbury, Ontario, and for some time now they have considered Petawawa as their home and call it as such. Together, Janet and Chris enjoy the support of an outstanding extended family, most of whom remain in the Sudbury area, and take significant pride in the accomplishments of their four great kids: Cregg, Lacey-Lea, Caitlin, and Karis.
