On September 20, 2004, Council approved the Town of Petawawa Emergency Plan. The Town has been fortunate and hasn’t yet had to implement the actual Plan during a declared emergency. However, the Emergency Plan is in place to make sure that the Town is protected and that we, as a community, are ready should an emergency occur. In the event that an emergency is declared in the Town of Petawawa, the Emergency Operation Centre would be activated and members of the Community Control Group would assemble to coordinate efforts towards assessing the needs and reaction to the actual event. As residents of the Town we can all be more prepared for emergencies by ensuring that each home has, at a minimum, a three-day emergency kit.
