Petawawa Point Beach

Special Notice: Friday, August 25 and Saturday August 26 Iron Man, Garrison Petawawa will be running Iron Warrior. Please use caution in and around the Ottawa River for the competitors canoeing. They will be launching from Black Bear Beach and disembarking upon the banks at the side of Petawawa Point Beach (to the left of the rental hut down towards the bottom of Albert St.)

Please exercise caution and respectfulness to the competitors while boating in the area these days. 

BOATERS - Please slow down and proceed with caution when travelling in the vicinity of the Petawawa Point beach head.

SWIMMERS – Do not enter the water/swim outside of the designated upstream swim area marked by signage (see photo above). Always be aware of your surroundings and do not enter the boat channel marked by the red and green buoys. DO NOT attempt to swim across the boating channel to reach Blueberry Island.

Park Overview:

Petawawa Point, known to locals as "The Point", is located at 1073 island View Drive, Petawawa, ON.

The Point is right at the junction of the Petawawa and Ottawa rivers, and is Petawawa's premiere waterfront park. Sandy beaches with sun-shades, stunning vistas, a boat launch, kids play structure, volleyball court, picnic tables, and washroom facilities can all be found at The Point. In addition, the washrooms are accessible and there is a mobi-mat for wheelchair access to the beach. Please note the beach at Petawawa Point is not supervised and there are no lifeguards on duty - please swim responsibly and wear a lifejacket or PFD if not a confident swimmer.

Watercraft Rentals:

Canoe/kayak/stand up paddle board rentals are all available at the Point during the summer season. Check the rentals page for more details on rates to rent various paddle equipment.

Boat Launch:

The boat launch is a concrete launch fitting for small craft launching and comes complete with docking slips to ease your put-in and take-out needs. There is no charge for using the boat launch.

Rules for Pets:

Pets must be kept on a leash at all times while visiting Petawawa Point Park.

As per our Animal Control By-Law, domestic animals are required to be on a leash while on municipal property, with the exception of the Scentral Bark Off-Leash Dog Park (located at 16 Civic Centre Rd, tags available at Community Services). Pets are not allowed on the beach where the designated swimming area is located, please adhere to the signage. Don't forget to stoop and scoop!

Black Bear Beach

Black Bear Beach is located in Garrison Petawawa at 154 Lievin Road, Building CC-57.  Black Bear Beach is open to the public and accessible all year round, but is used at your own risk.  The site features a beach volleyball court, canteen, and washroom services during the summer season.  They also offer lifeguards throughout the summer during posted hours.  For more information, call 613-687-5511 ext. 4455.
