Portage Road Reconstruction Phase 2

The Town of Petawawa has contracted McCrea Excavating Ltd. for the reconstruction of Portage Road Phase 2 from Dustin Drive to Scott Avenue (a distance of 0.4 km). This project is scheduled to begin construction in June 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in September 2024.

The project works will include paving and grading, concrete curbs, concrete sidewalk ramps, multi-use pathway, new watermain, storm sewer improvements, landscaping, site restoration and line painting. The road will remain open during construction, however there will be periods when the road may be reduced to one lane. There may be periods when access to driveways will be restricted (asphalt driveway paving, new pipeline installation, etc.), however, the contractor will provide affected residents with as much notification as possible.

Properties located adjacent to the limits of construction will receive a notification from Blastek Engineering Group, on behalf of McCrea Excavating Ltd. requesting authorization to complete a pre-construction inspection of their private property. Property owners are encouraged to schedule this free inspection prior to the start of construction, and should be advised that these inspections will only be performed at the discretion of individual property owners or their representatives. This inspection is completed to provide a baseline of the condition of the house prior to the commencement of construction. It would only be referred to should a resident feel that damage was done to their house as a result of the construction activity.

The engineering firm of Jp2g Consultants Inc. has been retained to complete contract administration and on-site inspection services required by this project. Residents or property owners are encouraged to contact Brandon Harkins from Jp2g Consultants Inc. at 613-735-2507 or by email at brandonh@jp2g.com should you have any questions or concerns relating to this project during the course of construction.

The Town of Petawawa appreciates residents' patience and cooperation througout the construction project.
