The annual observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on 3 December was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities.
This flag raising event is part of the Town's Community Flag Program.
The Town of Petawawa is interested in cultivating a community that is respectful, inclusive, and safe; where everyone has an equal opportunity to take part. The Town recognizes the symbolism of displaying flags as a visual statement which promotes an environment of understanding and mutual respect.
