Summer Day Camp Counsellors - Summer Employment

The Town of Petawawa is currently seeking responsible, enthusiastic and outgoing Summer Day Camp Counsellors for our diverse summer camps (ages 4-12 years old). The Summer Day Camp Counsellors act as a leader and provide campers with a fun, safe and educational camp experience.

Description of Position:

  • Implementation and active involvement in all aspects of the summer camp programs, including operation and delivery
  • Supervise campers with guidance from Summer Camp Director and Recreation Program Coordinator
  • Assist with responding to parent questions and concerns to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensure programs are run safely and on schedule
  • Learn and teach assigned camp curriculum and weekly camp programs


  • Kinder Camps: Ages 4-6
  • Junior Camps: Ages 6-8
  • Senior Camps: Ages 8-12


  • High energy, excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
  • A keen interest and ability to work with children, provide outdoor related programs, and support children's interests and needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience working with children ages 4-12 in a camp or educational setting
  • Current CPR-C and First Aid certifications
  • Formal studies in Education, Recreation or Physical Education, an asset
  • High Five certifications, an asset
  • Prepared for a physically demanding job (very active, high energy)

Hours of Work:

  • June 3 - 28, 2024: 24 hours per week
  • July - August 30, 2024: 40-44 hours per week

Rate of Pay$17.33 per hour.
