Pitzner Road Paving

The Town of Petawawa Public Works Department will be overseeing the preparation and paving of 800 metres of Pitzner Road. The construction area starts at Priebe Road and ends at the cul-de-sac, 800 metres west of Priebe Road.

The construction work is scheduled to begin June 20th and will involve the following phases:

  • Replacement of cross road culvert at guide rails with high density plastic pipe to increase longevity
  • Replacement of guide rail in same location as noted above
  • Grading existing gravel and adding any required granular “A” prior to paving
  • Compaction of roadway prior to paving
  • Road paving will consist of one surface course, 50 mm depth, with a finished paved platform of 6.5 metres
  • Road shouldering will be completed after paving, along with driveway tie-ins
  • Pavement markings (yellow centre line) will be completed at the end of the construction project
  • The project is to be completed by July 22nd

The construction site will remain open to local traffic through all phases of construction. All residents and businesses, along this section of Biesenthal Road will have access to their respective driveways throughout the construction process. Garbage and recycling pick up will not be affected.

Residents/business owners should expect minor traffic delays, some dust, and some additional noise due to heavy equipment and trucks. The Town is responsible for dust control during the construction process, and the site will be inspected regularly by Public Works Staff, throughout the construction process.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Chris Mantha, Manager of Public Works, at 613-687-5536, Extension 2301, or Peter Lapointe, Public Works Lead Hand, at Extension 2302.

The Town of Petawawa continues to invest in infrastructure renewal, and we thank you for your patience during the upcoming Pitzner Road construction project.
