Petawawa, ON – The Town of Petawawa is lifting the watering ban that was implemented on June 20, 2023. Following clear water test results, the intake of water from the Ottawa River to the Town’s water treatment plant has been reinstated.

Outdoor watering can recommence in accordance with the regulations set out in Watering By-law 293/04:

  • Watering is permitted between 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on your designated day;

  • Odd numbered addresses may water on odd days (e.g. June 23-25-27); and

Petawawa, ON – Out of an abundance of caution the Town of Petawawa has temporarily stopped the intake of water from the Ottawa River to its water treatment plant. This is a precautionary measure in response to potentially hazardous materials from the recent crash of a CH-147F Chinook into the Ottawa River near Garrison Petawawa.

The Town of Petawawa is implementing a watering ban for all non-essential watering. To ensure normal consumption demands can be met, there will be no outdoor watering (lawns, gardens etc.) permitted immediately. This watering ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Our thoughts are with the crew of the helicopter, their families and all the members of 450 Squadron and Garrison Petawawa at this time.
