This year’s Cabin Fever promises to be a treat for the senses and provide us with many opportunities to play in our winter wonderland.   Festivities begin on January 18 with the fundraising Comedy Night and Dance in support of the Greater Petawawa Minor Hockey Association.  Over the course of the week there are many additional activities to enjoy, family skating and snowshoeing, breakfasts, chili luncheons, bingos, bridge and bid euchre tournaments. These activities lead to the annual Lion’s Trivia Night event on Friday, January 24.  Is your team ready to accept the challenge?  On Saturday, January 25, a new KI sponsored Bumper Car & Soccer on Ice event will take place and of course you can always put in a team for the Snow pitch ball Tournament.  That evening, the Petawawa Rotary Club will host a new fundraising event called the “Fusion of Senses.”  Sponsored by Valley Eats, this event will offer participants the opportunity to savour, sample and experience a diverse selection of local fares and craft beverages and enjoy a live indie folk blues artist performance.

We invite you back for Cabin Fever Part 2 - an extension necessitated by uncooperative weather conditions.  The popular snow drag races have been rescheduled to Saturday, February 29 at the Pembroke and Area Airport.  Enter the races or come out to watch!  Two events have been moved to Sunday, March 1.  Brave supporters of the OSPCA are invited to the “Freeze Your Paws Off” and take part in a traditional Polar Bear plunge all in support of our furry friends.  Then a new event is taking place at the Roanoke Golf Course, bearing the title “Winter Wonderland,” where participants can skate on the pond, enjoy a guided snowshoe outing, play outdoor games and roast marshmallows over an open fire.

Come out to enjoy the activities, revive your senses and experience our nature.
