Please Note:

This neighbourhood meeting is being hosted by Jp2g Consultants Inc. for the purpose of obtaining input from the public prior to holding the formal public meeting required under the Planning Act. The intention of this meeting is to be able to inform nearby property owners of the proposal and answer any questions they may have regarding the project.

What is a Temporary Use By-law?

A Temporary Use By-law is a tool that municipalities can use under the Planning Act which allows for a use, that is currently not permitted under the zoning by-law, to be permitted on a property for a maximum of three years at a time with possible extensions.

Purpose and Effect of the Application

The purpose of the Temporary Use By-law is to permit an urban farm and a farmstand for a period of three years. The farm would include a market garden and a variety of livestock. The produce from the market garden would be sold at the farmstand. The purpose of using a temporary use by-law in this case is largely due to the proposed livestock, with the intention of monitoring the use to assess the longer-term compatibility with the surrounding land uses.
