Closures & Cancellations

With the lifting of the interim vessel ban on the Petawawa and other sections of the Ottawa River by the Federal Ministry of Transportation, the boat launch at Petawawa Point is now open for public use. The remainder of the park and beach area remain closed until water levels recede further and flood clean-up can be completed.

Centennial Park is closed to the public.  Water from the spring freshet has crested the banks and is on pathways making the lands unstable.  Please stay out of Centennial Park. (04.28.2019)

Petawawa Point Beach is closed to the public.  Water levels are rising and are anticipated to do so.  It is strongly advised that residents and visitors stay away from these areas.  Please stay away from Petawawa Point Beach. (04.28.2019)

Centennial Park, the Millenium Trail and Petawawa Point are currently experiencing the effect of the Petawawa River spring freshet.  Flooding associated with the extremely swollen river is at historic levels.  The Town of Petawawa is asking that people stay clear of these areas until further notice.  With river flows at extreme levels, exceeding their banks they pose a serious danger associated with slips and falls along the banks.  Additionally, river water temperatures are extremely cold and pose cold water risks to anyone who may become submerged.
