Ministry of Transportation - Community Transportation Grant Program - Municipal Stream

In order to schedule a daily living needs, door-to-door, transportation program that best meets the needs of our community members we have prepared a short survey.  We would encourage everyone who may be a user of the transportation service to complete the survey to provide invaluable input into the development of this service.   The survey is available to complete online by clicking here or as a printable version which may be dropped off at your local service organization or at the Municipal Hall located at 1111 Victoria Street Petawawa.  We will collect responses until the end of July 2018.  Should you require any further information or have any questions kindly contact Christine Mitchell at 613-687-5536 ext 2021.

Petawawa Town Council learned, last evening, that they were one of 40 communities across Ontario to receive five year funding through the Ministry of Transportation - Community Transportation Grant Program - Municipal Stream.  This funding will support local transit services for underserviced areas and vulnerable segments of the population.  While the Town was eligible to apply for and receive the funding they are permitted to engage the services of a third party to facilitate the transportation service.  In order to meet the extensive reporting metrics, required under the program, and with their fleet of vehicles and service model it was determined that Carefor Health and Community Services would be the natural partner to work with the Town in the implementation of this program.

The news is good.  The community consultations conducted as part of the Age Friendly Community Assessment process identified priorities of affordable accessible housing and reasonable transportation service and support to provide for the needs of daily living and community inclusion.  Some affordable accessible housing has been created with the development of 14 units at the Petawawa Housing Corporation.  This Transportation grant will allow us to meet the other need by providing accessible transportation.
