Upper Ottawa River Race and Paddle Festival

The Upper Ottawa River Race and Paddle Festival is a three day event, held the second weekend in August, celebrating active outdoor lifestyles and the Ottawa River.
 

Friday Activities:
 

Reel, Kayaks & Real Heroes – Petawawa Point Beach (Petawawa)

This is an opportunity to give back to those that have already given so much; our Canadian Military. The “Kayak Angler Association of Outaouais”, Soldier On and the Petawawa Military Family all collaborate with the Town to host this event.  It is a therapeutic opportunity to Kayak Fishing on the Ottawa River, fishing with an experienced angler and develop a new appreciation.

Kayak and Stand Up Paddle Clinics – beachside at Pembroke Riverside Park
 

Saturday Activities:
 

Features kayak, canoe, stand up paddling (SUP) and outrigger races on the Ottawa River from Petawawa Point to Riverside Park (13km), as well as 4 km loop races at Riverside Beach.  After the races there will be demonstrations and water activities, including stand up paddling and stand up yoga, kids SUP races, a vendor’s field, kids’ activities, paddling clinics, a physiotherapy tent, and great local food and music.  Included in your registration you will receive a race shirt (guaranteed with registration by July 1st), lunch and dinner, free shuttle for 13km racers to pick up your vehicle, prizes and trophies (for 1st place in a variety of categories), live music and lots of activities and fun!
 

Kayak Fishing Derby - beachside at Petawawa Point - This human-power fishing derby will have a “Catch-Measure-Photo-Release” format. The Derby is multi-species with prizes for longest smallie, largemouth, pike, walleye and catfish.
 

Sunday Activities:
 

Heritage Paddle - from Petawawa Point - Join Alastair Baird of Voyageur Canoes as they take you on a historic paddle through the island off the shore of Petawawa. From beached ship wrecks to stories of the historic Ottawa River. Enjoy a beautiful scenic paddle and a catered lunch on the beach. Reserve your paddle in an authentic voyageur canoe as you paddle as a team.
 

Paddle for CHEO – from Petawawa Point - This is a fundraising event for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.  It is a 5 or 12 km Community paddle followed by a beachside lunch.  The lunch is followed by the Celebrity paddle for CHEO of which any office/friend foursome can participate. We encourage you to join us, as we raise our paddles, and awareness for a great cause!
