Things to Do

Welcome to Petawawa!

Situated between the Petawawa River and the Ottawa River, Petawawa is an ideal place for getting on the water or a family day on the beach. The possibilities and adventures are endless here in Petawawa, from miles of flat water to swim, canoe and fish or world class whitewater to get your adrenaline going. Enjoy fishing for bass, pike, trout and other species on miles of open water.

If you would rather keep your feet dry, enjoy walks or snowshoe adventures on some of our local nature trails. With the Algonquin Trail passing straight through our town centre, opportunities for ATV and snowmobile excursions are aplenty! Petawawa is also the gateway to the eastern gate of Algonquin Provincial Park which offers a truly wilderness experience. Home to a renowned bike skills park and pump track designed by Jay Hoots, this is a place where bikes meet air.

Celebrate with us at various special events including the Upper Ottawa River Race & Paddle Festival, Get to the Point Beach Party or the Petawawa Ramble.

Petawawa is located only an hour and a half west of Ottawa. You’re never too far from a beautiful view or a breath of fresh air.  If you are hearing the call of the wild, it’s coming from Petawawa!

Visitor Information is available at the Petawawa Civic Centre (16 Civic Centre Rd).  We have a display wall of tourism brochures and our staff in the Community Services office will be happy to assist you.  OVTA logo
